キンクマハムスター”おもち”のいろいろなシーンや気持ちを、1枚の絵にしました。
30匹のなかで私たちと目が合うのは、真ん中にいるごきげんなおもち1匹だけ。
そこには「いろいろなときがあっても本来の前向きな自分はずっと中心にいる」「何度でもそこに戻ってこれる」というメッセージを込めています。
絵の中の”おもち”のように、心もからだもいろいろな面、いろいろな瞬間、いろいろな状態がありますが
どんなときでも私たちが私たち自身を信じていられるように。
落ちるときはあるし、もう戻れないわけじゃないことを忘れないように。
そんなメッセージをキンクマハムスターの”おもち”と、オオイヌノフグリのお花に託しています。
タイトルは、《どんなきみも》
そのあとに続く言葉は人や場合によってそれぞれで
「すきだよ」でもいいし
「信じてるよ」でもいい
「大丈夫だよ」でも。
自分から発する言葉のようにも感じられるし、自分に向けられた言葉のようにも捉えられる。
そんなイメージでつけました。
オオイヌノフグリの属名の学名は「Veronica」というのですが、それは聖書のなかでイエス＝キリストが十字架を負って刑場に向かう途中、顔をぬぐう布をささげたという伝説上の聖女ヴェロニカの名前から由来するそうです。
花言葉の「忠実」「信頼」「清らか」もその聖女ヴェロニカのお話にちなむそうで、”たとえどんな状況でも信頼を捨てない”という点に、絵のテーマとも深い繋がりを感じます。
また、30匹のハムスターのおもちを描いたこの絵には1匹1匹の表情やポーズ・位置などすべて意味があります。
そんな絵にまつわる物語や背景をより深く知り、余すところなく楽しんでもらえるように、この絵のためだけの「本」も制作しました。
「世界中のひとと一緒に楽しみたい」という想いから、日本語の隣には英訳も添えています。

この絵と本が
眠れない夜に小さな灯りをつけて読む本のような。暗い夜道であえて明るく口ずさむ歌みたいな。
そんな存在になってくれたらいいな、と願っています。

I made a picture of various scenes and feelings of Kinkuma hamster “Omochi”.
Among the 30 hamsters, only the happy-looking Omochi in the center of the picture makes eye contact with us.
This is a message that says, “No matter what happens to you, your original positive self is always at the center of the picture and you can come back to it again and again.
Just like the “Omochi” in the painting, our mind and body have many different aspects, many different moments, and many different states.
We want to be able to believe in ourselves at all times.
Remember that there will be times when you feel down, and it doesn’t mean you’ll never be the same again.
I put such a message into the “Omochi” of a kinkuma hamster and the flowers of a ooinunofuguri.
The title is “All moments of you”.
The words that follow depend on the person and the situation.
“It can be “I love you,” “I believe in you,” or “It’s okay.
You may feel as if the words are coming from you, or you may receive them as if they are directed at you.
That’s the image I tried to create.
The scientific name for the genus of the Ooinunofuguri is Veronica, which comes from the name of the legendary saint Veronica, who wiped Jesus Christ’s face with a cloth on his way to the place of execution on the cross.
The words “faithful,” “trustworthy,” and “pure” in the language of flowers are also said to be related to the story of the saint Veronica, and I feel a deep connection with the theme of the painting in that “no matter what the situation, do not abandon trust.
In addition, each of the 30 hamsters in this painting has its own meaning, such as its expression, pose and position.
In order for people to learn more about the stories and backgrounds behind the pictures and to enjoy them to the fullest, we have created a book just for these pictures.
